2018/11/14 - Moto2 WM with MV Agusta Forward Racing

#Moto22019: Dominique Aegerter and MV Agusta Forward Racing

Dominique Aegerter and MV Agusta Forward Racing in 2019

In signing a one-year contract with the Swiss based racing team, #DA77 has secured his remaining in the highly-competitive and media attractive Moto2™ World Championship.

Huge relief for Dominique Aegerter who started his grand prix career back in 2006 in Portugal. Since then, the 28-year-old from Rohrbach in the canton of Bern took part in 196 grand prix. But since a while it looked that this weekend’s last race of the season in Valencia would be his last grand prix for now. The upcoming move to the Tessin based Forward Racing team was only made in the last Moment. For Aegerter, however, it will bring a big change again. Apart from the new 765cc three-cylinder engine supplied by Triumph, which will be used as single engine from 2019 on, Forward Racing is set to join synergies with the traditional Italian brand MV Agusta, racing with their rolling chassis.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER:

"Obviously, I’m very that much relieved that, so to speak, I was able to sign a Moto2 contract for next year in the very last moment. So, I’m really looking forward to working with MV Agusta and the Forward team. At the same time, it makes me proud to be part of this completely new project which sees the return of such a successful brand as MV Agusta to grand prix racing. Over the years, Forward Racing has gained lots of experiences in Moto2 and with Mattia Pasini or Stefano Manzi, I will get an equally experienced team mate too. I’m highly motivated to start working with my new bike equipped with the MV Agusta chassis and the Triumph engine. The first test with this new package for me will take place in just one week in Jerez. This is why I’m very excited to tackle this new challenge."

"2018 was a difficult season for me as, on the one hand, I couldn’t deliver the results as I actually wanted to do. The last few weeks, therefore, have been incredible nerve-wracking because my ultimate goal always has been to continue my career in Moto2 world championship. Yet without a manager going to look for a ride in this class was such a hard piece of work. So, I’m glad that my brother Kevin helped me so much in this regard. I don’t think I would have been able to do that without him though, my ride in next year’s Moto2 world championship is secured now. But now, the search for a manager continues who should help us finding the second part of the season’s budget. I’m very grateful to my personal sponsors for continuing to remain loyal to me and believing in me once again. I would also like to thank Giovanni Cuzari and the Forward team for offering me this opportunity. I will now do my best so that I can concentrate fully on racing and to be able to show top performances again."
