2019/09/21 - Moto2™ WM 2019: GP de Aragón / QP Report

#AragónGP: Important step forward achieved

After a massive change to his bike, Dominique Aegerter feels now a lot more comfortable aboard the MV Agusta.

Although the 28-year-old Swiss Moto2™ rider Dominique Aegerter wasn’t able to close Saturday's qualifying session better than in 24th position, day two of practice at Aragón came to a predominantly positive conclusion for him and his Forward Racing team. What gives him the most confidence for the race day in the outback of Spain is the good feeling with his racing machine now he has.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (MV Agusta Temporary Forward, MV Agusta F2), Grid position 24th - 1´53.503 (3/7):

"Today we have taken an important and big step forward. We’ve succeeded in significantly improving the bike in some areas. This has had a very positive effect on the lap times. We were almost two seconds faster than yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't manage the perfect lap during Q1. The tyre had already dropped drastically after just two laps. It was difficult for me to adjust to this situation. That's why I made some mistakes by often being too late on the brakes. In the end, that cost me two or three tenths of a second. Our starting position in P24 is of course disappointing. Nevertheless, tomorrow’s race will be exciting at all, because I really don't know what my race pace will be like. But the positive aspect of the day is that I now feel much more comfortable due to the improvement of the bike. We have to take this feeling with us in any case, then it will definitely be a nice race for us."
