2021/04/12 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup: second official Test, Jerez

Fastest on Monday in Jerez

At the opening day of the second official MotoE™ test, Dominique Aegerter sets the standards again.

In beautiful weather, Dominique Aegerter dominated day one of the final testing ahead of the first race in the electric bike series in just under three weeks. After many laps most recently done aboard the 600cc Supersport bike, the 30-year-old Swiss rider managed the switch to the Energica MotoE bike almost effortlessly. Aegerter topped the timesheet as early after the second session before stepping it up a notch later in the afternoon, already coming close to matching the fastest lap times from the first test a month ago.

MotoE testing will continue on Tuesday. The focus will be on a race simulation in which the motorcycles will be tested over a longer distance and, for the first time, new fast-charging stations will also be used on the starting grid.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica):

"Our second MotoE test started just the way I wanted it to. With good weather, we were able to make great use of today’s three practice sessions and I was able to quickly get used to the MotoE bike again. I was amazingly fast right from the start, which is reassuring. To set fastest lap times in second and third sessions of the day were a confirmation of that. My crew worked very well again, as we made small improvements in various areas. In addition, we worked a lot on the suspension and tested new tyres from Michelin. Last but not least, I also managed to further adapt my riding style to this racing machine."

"Our pace was great at all times and I also put together a strong lap at the end. All in all, it was a successful start. We now have two more days ahead of us and, as the weather is perhaps not supposed to be as good on Wednesday, the schedule for tomorrow has been changed at short notice. A race simulation over eight laps is therefore planned for lunchtime. This is supposed to be a real test for the first race at the beginning of May. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to the remaining days here in Jerez and hopefully we can continue to maintain our position at the top. On top of that, of course, I'd like to further improve the lap times and our pace too."
