Dominique Aegerter finished the opening practice session in Assen in fifth place and still feels plenty of room for improvement.
After Barcelona three weeks ago, the TT Circuit in Assen is the second track in a row to host the electric bike series for the first time. In contrast to last time, Dominique Aegerter managed a much better start to the weekend. In third place after the first session, the 30-year-old Swiss rider wanted to pick up where he left off in FP1 and to take the next step in the afternoon. But after an unexpected rain shower, Aegerter suddenly found different track conditions for second free practice session, although the 4.5-kilometer track had dried almost completely.
#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica), FP1: P3 - 1´44.087 (8/9) / FP2: P5 - 1´43.753 (6/9):
"The changeover to the MotoE bike worked incomparably better this time. We started well, as well as the feeling was immediately there again. During the first session we were always at the top. FP2 in the afternoon, however, was a bit more difficult. After a previous rain shower, the track had mostly dried out again. The conditions were okay and therefore the times got also faster."
"Unfortunately, I was not able to improve quite as much as some others. P5 after the first day is therefore nowhere near our potential. There are certainly still a few things we need to look at now and try to improve. We will do everything we can to make sure we are back at the front of the pack tomorrow. In FP3, we need to get everything in place to be ready for E-Pole, though hopefully, it will stay dry for the next two days."
