2021/09/17 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup: GP San Marino / FP Report

Fifth in the dry, eleventh in the wet afternoon

Changeable weather could do nothing to Dominique Aegerter on the first day of practice at the final round of this year's MotoE™ World Cup.

The season finale of the electric bike series has begun with two very different free practice sessions. In good weather on Friday morning, Dominique Aegerter started the weekend in fifth place at the Misano World Circuit not far from the Italian Adriatic coast. A turnaround in the afternoon brought partly heavy rain showers.

The second session of the day therefore took place on a rain-soaked track. The 30-year-old Aegerter flashed his immense experience as he set very fast lap times in the early minutes of the competition, while he did not reach his full potential towards the end and finished FP2 in eleventh place. On Saturday morning, it is already off to the E-Pole, for which the current fourth overall is expecting quite a bit, before the penultimate race of the season gets underway in the afternoon.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica), FP1: P5 - 1´44.328 (8/8) / FP2: P11 - 1´55.331 (10/10):

"I think that we should not be unsettled because of the changeable weather. The conditions are the same for everyone and everyone had the same amount of practice time today. This morning it was a pretty decent start to the weekend for us. But for the second practice we wanted to change a few settings on the bike. Unfortunately, we were not able to try them out. So, I think we still have room for improvement in the dry."

"On a wet track I managed quite well to adapt to the changed conditions in the first laps. Towards the end, the others perhaps took a bit more risk and had a better feel for the track’s condition. But I think we will be ready for all possible variations of what the weather has to offer. That goes for the E-Pole on Saturday morning as well as for both races. No matter what it will be, I am looking forward to an exciting season finale and will give everything to leave the three competitors who are currently ahead of me in the points table behind me at the end."
