DOMINIQUE AEGERTER SECURES FIRST TOP TEN
The Swiss rider delivered a brave ride to came home in 8th place in what was a tricky race on Sunday in Argentina.
Changeable weather also left its marks on race day at the series’ visit to South America. After heavy overnight rain showers, the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit almost dried out until the start of the second race of the season at 1:20 pm local time. Despite many wet spots along the 4.8 kilometres track, all teams and riders headed into race with slick tyres and a full dry setting.
Dominique Aegerter, who qualified for eleventh spot on the starting grid, benefited from his good position and was already part of the extended leading group after the opening lap. Over the course of the 23 laps distance, the 27-year-old from the Bern region performed faultless on an increasingly drying track. Finally, he scored well-deserved eight points for the championship.
For round three of the championship in two weeks in Austin, Texas, the entire paddock will cross the Atlantic again.
#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), 8th (Championship position 11th, 9 points):
"P8 in the second race is a great result for us, of course. The track’s conditions were not easy to judge. But I was able to adapt quickly, and I soon got into fast rhythm. This pace, I was able to race consistently till the end, even if it was mostly a lonesome ride for me in the second half of the race. Due to the changeable weather with changing conditions, it was certainly not an easy weekend. But we actually coped well with every situation and we also remained very patient always. As a bonus, we have come closer to the top riders again. It was also important that we finished the race again. This has brought us many kilometres and we have collected important data, as well as I could further increase the feeling with the new material. This also includes how to ride this bike at its limits. A huge thanks to the whole team because they are doing an outstanding job every time. Of course, we are still not where we should be, but this weekend has underlined again that we are making progress step by step."
