DELICIOUS START AT THE TEAM’S HOME RACE

On Friday morning at the legendary Sachsenring, Dominique Aegerter made a blistering start to the weekend posting fastest lap time in FP1.

After bad weather on the previous day, the summer returned to German’s Saxony state in time for the opening day of the last race before the upcoming break. This welcome change in weather obviously had a positive effect on the Dominique Aegerter and his Kiefer Racing team because during this morning’s FP1, the Rohrbach native was amongst the top riders on the time screen at any time. During the second session in the afternoon with much warmer temperatures, however, Aegerter and his crew made a change in terms of tyre strategy by using the harder option for this weekend.

"Of course, the weekend got started very well with fastest lap time this morning. This session has given the whole team and our partners and sponsors an enormous boost. It was incredible pleasing that since a while we were able to show again that, if everything fits, our potential is huge. However, I have to say that during FP1 we used, unlike many others, already the softer tyre. In the afternoon, on the other hand, we worked just with the harder option whereas some other competitors went out with the softer compound. Therefore, there are quite big differences to the morning session. For me, the harder tyre was very difficult to ride, as this compound causes us more issues overall though the gap is still very low with just 0.7 seconds to the top. But we ended up in P27. Therefore, it is extremely important at all that everything is in its right place."
