#AustrianGP: DOMINIQUE AEGERTER STARTS WITH A GOOD FEELING IN AUSTRIA

#DA77 STARTS WITH A GOOD FEELING IN AUSTRIA

High humidity and sometimes heavy downpours affected proceedings on the opening day at Styria’s Red Bull Ring in the green heart of the country.

After the incredible heat wave of recent weeks, the magnificent landscape surrounding the 4,3 kilometres long Spielberg track seemed to appear even greener after rainy weather reached the Murtal region in the afternoon. Despite partly enormously difficult track conditions during the second free practice due to that lots of water on the surface, the change in weather actually was convenient, as FP1 was accompanied by muggy weather just before lunch time today.

Swiss Moto2™ star Dominique Aegerter and his technical crew in Kiefer Racing started their work for round eleven of the current calendar with some fundamental changes to the team’s KTM Moto2 machine. With noticeable progress in confidence for his bike, Aegerter was recorded with 21st fastest lap time in the morning. The rainy session later today was mainly to rebuild a feeling in full wet conditions after a long time.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), FP1: P21 - 1´31.197 (22/23) / FP2: P23 - 1´45.658 (5/12):

"In the dry this morning, we tried a change to the bike’s geometry. It felt very good, despite we still have to work more in that direction. We didn’t lose much time with only 0,7 seconds to the top, but we finished only in 21st place. The position isn’t that bad for the moment, but we have to close to gap significantly. FP2 was the first session in heavy rain since the championship started. In the first laps, I felt quite comfortable on a wet track. However, after seeing many crashes, I didn’t want to risk anything. There was a lot of water on the track, which probably was the cause of these many falls. In addition, the weather should be nice and dry again for the remaining weekend."
