#BritishGP: ENJOYABLE START IN UNFAMILIAR COOL ENGLAND

#DA77: ENJOYABLE START IN UNFAMILIAR COOL ENGLAND

At his team principal Jochen Kiefer's birthday, Dominique Aegerter had the right gift, closing day one in the top 15.

After these many heat races this summer, teams and riders are struggling with typical weather conditions for England at the start of round twelve at the enormous Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire. Friday’s first free practice sessions to kick-off the weekend were accompanied by sensitive cool temperatures and changeable weather. Whilst FP1 took place on a dry track this morning, the second session was adversely affected by a short but heavy rain shower.

In dry conditions, Swiss Moto2™ Star Dominique Aegerter displayed a pleasing increase in terms of performance, finishing in 13th place just one second off the pace. Aegerter also started off aggressively in the afternoon before the onset of rain changed proceedings dramatically.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), FP1: P13 - 2´09.375 (11/18) / FP2: P3 - 2´10.732 (2/10):

"I think, on our boss’ birthday we started quite well into the weekend: Happy Birthday Jochen! It was really a good start indeed, so we can be satisfied so far. Despite the new asphalt, the track is still very bumpy. On the other side, however, grip level is really good now. Nevertheless, the lap times in the dry are still a bit slower than last year. During FP2, unfortunately, it started to rain but the grip in the wet is definitely better than it was like two years ago when it was very slippery out there at the time. But apart from these circumstances, we’re competitive at all. However, tyre choice isn’t done yet as we have only been able to try one option so far. Nevertheless, we can look forward positively to Saturday, that we can keep our position in the top 15 during FP3 and then in qualifying. However, it depends a lot on the weather which is very cool and windy since today. Hopefully it stays reasonably stable, so we can prepare well and deliver a good race on Sunday."
