#AustralianGP: BREAKTHROUGH WITH SECOND ROW START IN DOWN UNDER

#DA77: BREAKTHROUGH WITH SECOND ROW START IN DOWN UNDER

On Saturday in windy conditions Phillip Island, Dominique Aegerter topped a very enjoyable weekend so far with a strong qualifying performance, securing fourth spot on the starting grid.

Dominique Aegerter and its Kiefer Racing team were able to continue their encouraging uphill tendency today. The experienced Swiss Moto2™ rider obviously felt very comfortable with these difficult conditions due to sometimes strong winds and changing track conditions. Finishing FP3 this morning fifth fastest, he impressively hinted his intensions for qualifying. During the timed session in the afternoon, Aegerter was even the benchmark for the first third of the session. In the end, his personal best lap times was good enough to qualify for P4 on the starting grid which was by far the best qualifying result for him and the German team this year.

Sunday’s third last round of the season will be started on an early morning time at 04:20am CET. But attention: this night, time changes to winter time.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), Grid position 4th - 1´33.841 (5/22):

"Of course, I’m super happy with today’s qualifying. This morning’s FP3 under mixed conditions was already very good for us. But during both sessions we had to fight with the strong wind here at the island. Our second-row start, however, is the compensation for the hard work of the team and our technical partners such as KTM and WP. At the same time, this result is also a satisfaction after so many setbacks this year. My crew did a great job as I had a lot of fun riding out there today. I really enjoyed every lap. Overall, how things went today are very good for our confidence and most of all it helps a lot my morality, for sure. So, I’m really happy for the entire team and at the same time a big thanks to them for all their efforts. Despite the strong performances in both sessions today, we have to keep both feet on the ground. Therefore, the goal for tomorrow is to finish the race in the top ten because if we can achieve that, we have certainly taken a big step forward. I think, it’s truly worth to get up that early tomorrow and watch the race."
