#AustralianGP: HUGE RELIEF IN AUSTRALIA - DOMINIQUE AEGERTER BATTLES TO SIXTH

HUGE RELIEF IN AUSTRALIA: #DA77 BATTLES TO SIXTH

After a strong race performance at Phillip Island, the Swiss Moto2™ star brought a long-awaited top result.

Just in time for race day, beautiful spring weather returned to the South Australia’s located picturesque island. With less winds than during the previous days, conditions were perfect for the Moto2 race which offered finest delicacies and was hardly to beat till the last moment in terms of thrills.

However, coming from a difficult period recently, Dominique Aegerter his German Kiefer Racing team played a significant role in the highly competitive intermediate class this weekend. The 28-year-old staged a splendid show during the entire distance on Sunday afternoon and joined the leading group till shortly to the end, which fiercely fought for the podium positions. Combined with the strong qualifying performance on Saturday, sixth place at the ultra-fast Grand Prix circuit at Phillip Island is a big relief for the entire team.

Therefore, the team’s stay in Australia gives an overall boost. With this good mood, Aegerter and Kiefer Racing will continue in Malaysia next weekend.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), 6th - Championship position 17th (40 points):

"We’re super happy with this result. We really deserved this sixth place because we worked hard for our return to the top ten this weekend. So, a big thanks to the team, to KTM and WP for their efforts. They really tried very hard to give me a great bike for the race. This weekend at Phillip Island gives me a lot of confidence after the last races have been very difficult. Today’s race also has shown that I’m still one of the fastest riders in this class. The race itself, runs smoothly except for one mistake when I tried to pass Marini. For this I was forced to run wide and therefore I lost the connection to the top group. Although I wasn’t as strong on the brakes today as normal I’m, we even might have been able to fight for the podium without this mistake. This really gives us confidence that with the package we have available and if everything fits, that we’re able to stay at the top of the pack. To finish the race with only 2.4 seconds behind the race winner underlines that we delivered a great performance today and we were able to collect a nice number of points even if it didn’t affect the overall standings, unfortunately. Nevertheless, this weekend was good for our mentality at all. We were thinking a lot of Stefan (Kiefer) who passed away one year ago. This consistently in our mind has also given us a little bit of inspiration."
