#DA77: Opening day in Valencia hit by persistent downpours
In adverse weather conditions, Dominique Aegerter began his work for the last race of the season with a solid performance.
Dark skies and heavy downpours may happen often in Spain as well. But persistent downpours since the last two days is a really unusual weather phenomena for the area surrounding Valencia. Therefore, the first free practice sessions took place in some extremely difficult track conditions. Dominique Aegerter, however, delivered an error free performance on day one at the season’s finale. The 28-year-old rider from the canton of Bern finally closed Friday in P17 of the combined practice times.
#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), FP1: P16 - 1´48.908 (19/19) / FP2: P18 - 1´49.991 (19/19):
"The forecasts predicted rain, of course, But that it would rain that much as today, we didn’t expect to happen. At least the conditions during both sessions were quite similar for this reason, although sometimes there were a lot of water on track. But so far, I’m quite happy with the feeling I gained for these tricky conditions though, I’m not at the limit yet. I’m sure that I can push harder in some sectors. But on the other hand, I didn’t want to risk anything, though, because there have been a lot of crashes today. Nevertheless, lap by lap I managed to get more confidence for the front in corner entry. So, for now we just have to look how we can improve without any major changes. For Saturday, however, the conditions are supposed to be half-half and on Sunday, it should rain again. I think, that we’re well prepared for all cases because our gap after the first day is not necessarily big."
