2019/03/30 - Moto2™ WM 2019: #ArgentinaGP / QP Report

First small setback, then progress

After a good qualifying, Dominique Aegerter looks forward in confident mood to Sunday’s Rio Hondo race.

Dominique Aegerter and his technical staff in the Swiss-Italian MV Agusta Forward team have done again a lot of testing tasks to their still young project over the past two days in Argentina. During this morning’s FP3, however, the Swiss Moto2™ rider suffered a slight setback but till qualifying got underway, which is to decide the starting grid, Aegerter and his crew turned back into the right direction.

Starting time for the second race of the season is scheduled for Sunday 6:20pm.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (MV Agusta Idealavoro Forward, MV Agusta F2), Grid position 20th - 1´43.576 (7/8):

"Compared to the first race we were able to shorten the gap a bit this weekend. We’re always working very hard and this obviously is to pay off. During almost every session we tried something new stuff delivered by engineers in MV Agusta. This morning particularly, we’ve tried a few new parts to see how we can improve our level of performance though we’ve made a small step back ibn FP3. But for qualifying we’ve found a good solution. Thanks to this step we’re able to perform with our normal speed again. Of course, I would like to start further towards the front than to qualify for P20."

"But for the moment we’re not as fast as for a single lap as our race pace is. Nevertheless, I gave 100 percent to be even faster. The lap times are that close, and the race distance is long. Due to our consistent race pace, I’m confident that we will recover well on Sunday. Therefore, I’m looking forward to the race though we’ve to wait and see how the weather will appear tomorrow. It looks like it’s going to have wet patches out there at least. No matter how the circumstances will be, we will try and to our best to move forward. Thanks to the team for their hard work they do always."
