2019/10/17 - Moto2™ WM 2019: GP Japan / Preview

#JapaneseGP: Dominique Aegerter feels like at home in Japan

This weekend’s round 16 of the season marks the opener of the October triple header.

Dominique Aegerter has a special preference for Japan. In addition to the annual Grand Prix in Motegi, the 29-year-old racer from the canton of Berne has long been a regular entry at the legendary Suzuka eight-hour race. Here and there he is visited and supported by a large fan community of motorcycle racing enthusiasts from Japan.

The schedule for the weekend contains some important changes. The order of both days of practice has been changed. This means that Moto2™ always goes before MotoGP™ out on the track. On Sunday the races will start one hour later than usual. A courtesy to the spectators in Europe. The Moto2 race therefore starts at 6:20am CET.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (MV Agusta Temporary Forward, MV Agusta F2):

"I always like to come to Japan, it is beautiful here and there are also beautiful memories. I can also count on the support of many Japanese fans. This weekend is the start of three races in a row. So, the time for recovery between the races will be limited. During the break since Thailand I had a good preparation and feel well prepared for the most strenuous part of the season. I really like the Motegi track. There are many hard-braking points and it's always up- and downhill. That really suits my riding style. Our technicians have brought some new parts again, but they’re only supposed to bring advantages in the heat of Malaysia. Nevertheless, we’ll try out some of them already here. I'm definitely looking forward to going out on the track on Friday morning. Hopefully the weather will remain stable so that we can complete our tasks undisturbed. Fortunately, this time it is cooler than last time in Thailand. Unfortunately, my future is not yet completely secured. For next year there are still some uncertainties. But that should not burden me when riding the bike. I finally want to achieve a decent result again."
