2020/08/20 - Moto2™ World Championship 2020: GP of Styria / Preview

#StyrianGP: To continue uphill trend

Dominique Aegerter has recovered well from the eventful race day last Sunday and he is therefore looking forward to the second Spielberg race weekend.

Like last month in Jerez de la Frontera, this is the second time this year that the Moto2™ World Championship will hold a Grand Prix at the same circuit. Aegerter returns with a twelfth place in his luggage to the Red Bull Ring, picturesquely embedded in the Styrian Murtal. The 29-year-old Swiss has spent the short break in his home country, in order to push the events of the last race out of his subconscious in his family environment.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (NTS RW Racing GP, NTS):

"After a few days at home in Switzerland, I'm looking forward to being back at the second Spielberg race this weekend. After an eventful race like last Sunday, it was important for me to switch off at home in my familiar surroundings and relax a little bit. This time I will again replace Jesko Raffin in the RW Racing Team. I feel sorry for him that he is still struggling with his health. So, all the best for a quick return to him. We certainly had a good weekend last time. In the race we were able to finish twelfth. However, we were incredibly lucky that I made it through the chaos in this terrible crash or, to put it another way, that I was not hit by any of the parts flown around. My luck was that I had a great reaction when I arrived at the scene of the accident."

"After the pleasing progress made during the first Spielberg weekend, we have already come up with a good plan for the upcoming days. During the first sessions we will try out a few more different things. According to the weather forecast it should still be nice on Friday, while rainy conditions on Saturday and Sunday might disturb the schedule. In any case we have to try to get further ahead from the beginning. Regarding the distance to the top guys we were not too far away at the end. But in this narrow class it is very important to be closer to the top so that the top ten are within reach in the race. So, we need to improve in this respect. For my part, I will try to adapt my riding style further and improve a few things in certain corners and on the brakes. But my crew also has various ideas on how to find a few tenths of a second with changes to the geometry or the engine brake. I'm looking forward to FP1 on Friday morning, when we start our work on the track again and hopefully make the next steps."
