2021/04/13 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup: zweiter Jerez-Test - Day two

Dominique Aegerter performs still at top level

During a race simulation on Tuesday, the 30-year-old Swiss breaks the current MotoE™ lap record in Jerez.

After Dominique Aegerter set fastest lap time on day one of the second and final official test for the FIM MotoE™ World Cup 2021 at the Circuito de Jerez, the Dynavolt Intact GP team rider continued his dominance on Tuesday. In a race simulation over eight laps, Aegerter opened a 10-second lead on his first contenders. On top of that, his fastest lap time in a 1'47.259 was well below the MotoE lap record from last year.

The second session of the day was again a 15-minute practice session. In slightly different conditions, Aegerter had to settle for the second-fastest lap time. The three-day test in southern Spain will be concluded on Wednesday with three more sessions.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica):

"There are mostly good things to report from the second day of our MotoE test. Shortly after noon, a race simulation was on the agenda. It went perfectly from start to finish. I could start from pole position and was already in front going into turn one. From that point on, I did not really have any opponent to fear. After eight laps I had a lead of more than ten seconds over the next guy. But I am most pleased about my fastest lap I did, which was three tenths of a second faster than the existing lap record. Beyond that, our pace was always consistently strong. I was in a position to set a top time almost every lap."

"At the end, however, it got exciting because the battery was running low. But overall, our performance was top in all respects. During the second session later in the afternoon, we tried out a few more things. Unfortunately, I was not able to improve on my yesterday’s time. That was why we were only second on the timesheet at the end of the day. However, the conditions changed slightly due to the wind coming up. Tomorrow, the last day, we have a normal schedule again with three half-hour sessions. We still have a few things on our to-do list, and we will also try to improve further in terms of lap time and pace, even though the weather is not forecast to be perfect. Anyway, I feel ready to go into the first race weekend in two weeks' time."
