2021/04/29 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup: Gran Prémio de Espana / Preview

Title winning campaign to get underway

Dominique Aegerter still has a score to settle with the MotoE™ World Cup.

In his rookie season aboard the Energica machine last year, Dominique Aegerter finished third overall in the electric bike series. Two race crashes in both last races through no fault by his own prevented a better result in the standings, if even a possible title win. With impressive consistency during official pre-season testing twice at the Circuito de Jerez in March and mid-April, the 30-year-old rider from Rohrbach has put himself into the fierce competition for this year’s overall victory. Aegerter, however, feels ready for it and is fully determined to make it up the unfortunate loss overall wining loss this time.

Like last year, the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in southern Spain will once again host the season opener of the FIM MotoE™ World Cup. The series takes place at chosen Grand Prix as part of the MotoGP™ World Championship.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica):

"More than five months have now passed since my last race. Even one month more since the MotoE season finale in Le Mans last October. So, I am really looking forward to finally bring my racing season on a roll. I had a good preparation with my Intact team for the World Cup. Our tests in Jerez were very encouraging and at the same time super successful, as we finished every session in the top three. Also, regarding the pace, we were always among the fastest. For this reason, I am very positive about the first race. Of course, races are always different, but I feel ready to play a significant role at the front."

"I am looking forward to seeing my crew again and continuing our work with them when we hit the track for the first time on Friday. My training during the past few months has been top notch. I was in Spain for a long time, where I was able to prepare myself at top level for everything what is coming up, both physically and mentally. There are fond memories of my MotoE debut in Jerez last July when I started from front row and finished the race on the podium in third place. Just one week later I managed to top that debut with pole position and victory. So, it would be really nice if we would start similarly strong this time. But I think we are all set to be among the front runners right from the start and be right at the top in the end."
