2021/05/14 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup: Grand Prix de France / FP Report

Everything according to plan on Friday at Le Mans

Fastest in first free practice was a perfect start for Dominique Aegerter into the second race weekend of the new season.

While teams and riders were welcomed by typically Le Mans conditions with cold, wet, and changeable weather over the past few days, conditions at the start of practice were stable despite forecasts to the contrary. After overnight rain showers, however, the track at the 4.1-kilometer Bugatti Circuit quickly dried out. Much to the surprise of all participants, both Friday’s free practice sessions for the second round of the FIM MotoE™ World Cup season were therefore held in dry conditions. Dominique Aegerter lost none of his strong level of performance during the break after the season opener two weeks ago in Spain. After setting fastest lap time in the morning, the 30-year-old all-rounder from Switzerland finished the opening day in France in fifth place overall.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica), FP1: P1 - 1´44.938 (9/10) / FP2: P5 - 1´44.202 (7/10):

"I think we are already on the right track, even if today's practice sessions ended somewhat differently. In the morning, in still very cool conditions, I immediately found a good rhythm and finished the session as fastest. My pace was also very strong in FP2. At the end of the day, I ended up in P5, 0.3 seconds behind the day’s fastest rider. However, the gaps between the top five are super close this time."

"Actually, we expected wet track conditions today. In the end, however, it stayed dry all day long. That was very important with a view to race day, when it should be just as dry. But before that, we will have to wait and see what the weather will be like on Saturday. It would definitely be just as helpful if we could do a few laps in the wet, just get a feeling for it. Otherwise, we will try to improve in some areas. By that I mean from a riding point of view as well as getting the setting for Le Mans a bit better in order to put together a perfect lap in E-Pole."
