2021/06/26 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup: TT Assen / QP Report

Eyeing a top three at the famous TT Assen

Although Dominique Aegerter's E-Pole lap was not quite perfect, he wants to finish on the podium on Sunday coming from second row of the starting grid.

The changeable weather typically for the north of the Netherlands almost dramatically affected the running’s of this afternoon’s E-Pole at the fourth stop of the MotoE™ World Cup. Most of the riders completed their lap under heavily overcast skies. Fortunately, it did not start to drizzle until after the last rider had crossed the finish line.

Dominique Aegerter went out for his time attack as the third-last rider due to the reversed order after free practice sessions. In much warmer temperatures than at the same time on the previous day or even during FP3 this late morning, he tackled the task fully determined. Nevertheless, the 30-year-old Swiss rider missed the front row of the grid by three tenths of a second.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica), Grid position 5th - 1´43.558:

"To be honest, I had hoped for a little bit more after FP3. With this bike it is incredibly important to start as far as possible to the front. Therefore, I cannot be completely satisfied with fifth place in the second row. However, lap times are very close, and I was always good during all free practice sessions. I also like this track a lot. That gives me a good feeling. Beyond that, we do not have to change much on the bike to exploit a bit more potential."

"Our qualifying mode with only one timed lap is very special. I made a small mistake in turn one, which may have had an impact of one or two tenths. Nevertheless, I think we are well prepared for the race although, let us see what the weather will be like tomorrow. Today we were lucky that a heavy rain shower did not hit the track until a few minutes after E-Pole. But we are definitely ready for dry conditions and want to fight for a podium again, no matter what comes."
