2021/08/12 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup: GP Österreich / Preview

Making up for Assen in Austria

Dominique Aegerter has set himself ambitious goals for round five of this season’s electric bike series season this weekend in Spielberg.

The last race before the summer break of this year's FIM MotoE™ World Cup at the tradition-steeped TT in Assen, the Netherlands, was a bad memory for 30-year-old Dominique Aegerter. A race crash at the end of the first lap prematurely deprived him of any chance playing a significant role when it came down to awarding podium position on the final Sunday of June. Aegerter finished outside the points standings and slipped back to fourth overall. Aegerter and his German Dynavolt Intact GP team will therefore be looking to make up ground in the points table this Sunday.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica):

"After the very unfortunate outcome of the last MotoE race, I cannot wait for this Sunday to make up for the mistake made at Assen. There is something to make up for and also to show that we have by no means given up our title hopes. Unlike some of the other riders who have been to Spielberg two years ago, this will be my first time riding the MotoE bike at the Red Bull Ring. These guys might have a bit of an advantage because they can draw on data from back then and also know what is important at this very peculiar track. But I am sure my crew still has the records from 2019 with Jesko (Raffin) on their computer and this will help us. Besides, I know Spielberg with the Moto2. The most obvious track characteristics are the hard braking points and a more fluid in-field. The Red Bull Ring looks easier on the sketch than it really is."

"After my victory in Most in Supersport World Championship last Sunday, I come to Styria with a good feeling. The move over to the electric bike should not cause any major difficulty, as I already have done it two or three times this year. So, I am going into this weekend with the attitude of getting familiarized with the track as quickly as possible so that I immediately can push the bike to its limits and giving my crew good information. I feel I am in great shape. After coming back from Most I recovered well, and I also hat a good trainingl to stay in shape during this exhausting month because in a week’s time I will switch back aboard the Supersport bike. But I am looking forward to every single race, no matter which race bike I'll be on."
