2021/12/15 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup 2022: Third season with IntactGP

Dominique Aegerter signs with IntactGP for a third MotoE™ season

31-year-old motorcycle road racer Dominique Aegerter will again fight for title honours in two championships at world level next year. An extension of the contract with the German based Intact team for the electric bike series was put on paper these days.

Dominique Aegerter is looking forward to a busy 2022 season. Following the recent publication of a provisional race calendar for the MotoE™ World Cup, which does not include any clashes with FIM Supersport World Championship, the rider from Rohrbach has had the opportunity now to sit down with the team management of his current MotoE team. The topic was the continuation of the very successful collaboration over the past two years. Aegerter and team principals Jürgen Lingg and Stefan Keckeisen also quickly agreed to launch a new attempt for the overall victory in MotoE™ World Cup together in 2022.

The scheduling of both championships, Supersport World Championship and MotoE, allows Aegerter to take part in all races in each case. While Aegerter's declared goal in WorldSSP is to successfully defend his title, the all-rounder from the Canton of Berne still has a score to settle with the electric bikes. Next year’s MotoE series will comprise seven events with one race each on Saturday and Sunday over a weekend. Italy’s Autodromo Mugello and Kymiring in Finland will be added as new venues.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica):

"Finally, I am also proudly able to announce the signing of a new contract for another season with the IntactGP team in MotoE World Cup either. This has taken a while, as the series’ new calendar was only published recently. I am very happy about it and I want to thank the Intact team for allowing me to work with them for a third year in the electric bike series. At the same time, I am also very grateful to the Ten Kate team for giving me the opportunity to compete in two championships again. So, 2022 will certainly be an exhausting and exciting season for me. Currently, I am looking forward having 20 race weekends with two races each, as there always will be a double event in MotoE next year as well. However, I will have to wait until early May for the first MotoE race, and I am also excited about the new qualifying format that is coming next year."

"Before that, though, I am looking forward to the first test with the Energica bike and the reunion with my Intact crew in March. The only fly in the ointment is that there is still no major development with this bike after four years. Nevertheless, I will give everything with the available equipment I have in order to finish the 2022 Cup as overall winner after a third place overall last year and the vice title this year. Our goal is to fight for the podium in every race so that at the end of the season we are finally at the top of the points table. But we will take it practice by practice and race by race and try to do our best every time. I am very happy that this project could be fixed before Christmas. So now I can enjoy this peaceful time with my family at home in Switzerland. On this way I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year."
