Reigning world champion Dominique Aegerter head into this weekend round four of WorldSSP season in Italy fully determined to further extend his lead in the FIM Supersport World Championship.

Dominique Aegerter already dominated the world championship race at the Italian circuit of Misano not far from the popular Adriatic coast a year ago. By securing top spot on the starting grid, the meanwhile 31-year-old Swiss had created the optimal starting position for two race victories. The Yamaha rider and his Dutch Ten Kate team are only too keen to repeat these successes, after they also left Estoril highly victorious recently.

"My memories of Misano last year could not be better. That weekend was a complete success for us - pole position and two race wins, there was no more to take with. However, in MotoE at the series’ season finale last September I had to accept a bitter disappointment. But that is history now and I am really looking forward to returning to Misano, where I like it very much. I like the track, but also the surroundings because of the proximity to the sea, and of course the good food in Italy. Hopefully we will have nice weather so we can enjoy this weekend a bit away from it all."

"Before Misano we have a good gap of 44 points in the overall standings and we want to fight for the podium again this time and, if possible, to extend our lead. After a busy May, I had a weekend off recently. I used this opportunity for a trip to Swiss Motocross Championship. I really enjoyed the event in Muri, it was a lot of fun. At the same time, it was a good training. I was pleased that many fans and sponsors came to watch whereas on track I also met some friends from my early years in racing. But now I am looking forward to seeing the Ten Kate family again in Misano, where we will start on Friday with some other settings in what I hope will be another strong weekend."
