A two-day test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will shorten the long break until the next stop of the 2023 Superbike World Championship in three weeks’ time with the first Europe round.

The early start to the championship, with the first races of the season at the end of February in Australia and a week later at the Indonesian island of Lombok, requires an unusually long time off from racing for Dominique Aegerter until the series resumes with the third event at the historic TT circuit of Assen in the north of the Netherlands. A test in the next few days is intended not only to prepare for that, but also to provide a good basis for the race weekend after that, when the paddock returns to the track in the northeast of Catalonia's vibrant capital.

Track time on both days is from 10:00 to 18:00 lt.

"A few weeks have passed since the opening races in Australia and Indonesia. If I briefly review them as a World Superbike rider, I am satisfied. For the moment I am in tenth place in the points standings. In Australia we were able to set a highlight with third place on the starting grid, and I am also satisfied with two top ten finishes in the races. I think we have already shown several times that we have got a good speed. But now it is gradually time to get back on my race bike. I am looking forward to the test this week in Barcelona. We should have good conditions, as we are used to in Spain."

"After the second race weekend in Indonesia, I took a short vacation in the Philippines. During this time, I also trained a lot. The first races showed that the Superbike class is very demanding. Nevertheless, I am glad that we now have a test. I am looking forward to seeing my GYTR GRT Yamaha team again and doing more kilometres and laps aboard my Yamaha R1. There is still a lot to do, for example to further adapt my riding style. But also, with the chassis and the electronics there is still room for improvement in terms to better setup everything. That will be our main task in these two days, as well as preparing for the race weekend in Barcelona in mid-May. Before that, though, we will still be at Assen at the end of April, which we will not ignore. The goal is to gather as much data and experience as possible to get faster and get closer to the top."
