2023/05/12 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2023: Two-day Misano Test / Final day

Misano test ends with valuable findings

Dominique Aegerter did not finish the two-day test in Italy in the positions with which he recently impressed, but nevertheless he goes back to Switzerland in satisfied mood.

The second and final day of testing at the Misano World Circuit, where the next meeting of the Superbike World Championship will take place in three weeks, was characterized by changeable weather. A dry start in the morning was followed by rain and in the afternoon teams and riders temporarily found a dry track again. Dominique Aegerter was particularly pleased to have experienced track conditions in all weathers. In addition, the 32-year-old Yamaha rider and his crew were successful, which should be helpful for the future.

"I think it was worth coming here, even though the weather was a little bit different than it probably will be at the race weekend in three weeks. Still, every kilometre I can ride the Yamaha Superbike is help for me. On the other hand, tests are always special because conditions are completely different such as the whole day we have at our disposal, and different tyres are used. Apart from that, we found out a few interesting things yesterday, for example in braking. Our pace was not that bad, apart from the two leaders in the timesheet. But behind them, everyone is very close together."

"Today we also had the opportunity to ride in rain conditions, and in the afternoon, we found completely different conditions, with lower asphalt temperatures and a different level of grip. That made our situation a bit more complicated to see if we could improve or not. Unfortunately, we could not use a qualifier tyre. That is why our position in the timesheet looks less nice, because we are a bit behind. But we are still in a learning process. The positive thing is that we found something in braking, and it was also important to gain the knowledge that this track offers a lot of grip both in the dry and in the wet. It was a very different experience from Barcelona. Overall, I am not super happy, but still glad we were here."
