After a very strong Saturday morning, Dominique Aegerter had to accept a big disappointment in the first race of the weekend.

For WorldSBK rookie Dominique Aegerter, Saturday started like a dream at the season’s final round in Jerez de la Frontera, southern Spain, after a series of faltering performances over the last few race weekends. The 33-year-old Swiss rider confirmed his second place after FP3 with an impressive lap in Superpole, which qualified the Yamaha rider for second place on the starting grid.

Coming from the front row, however, Aegerter was plagued by electronics problems as early as the first lap, quickly dropping to the back of the field. Aegerter nevertheless finished the race in 18th place.

The final race day of the season gets underway tomorrow (Sunday) with Warm Up in the morning, followed by Superpole Race at 11:00am and the second main race at 02:00pm.

"We had a great start to the day, with a strong FP3. Then in Tissot Superpole I did a very fast lap which secured me a great second place on the grid, and to return to Parc Fermé after a long time was a fantastic feeling. My team did a great job to achieve this fantastic result. Unfortunately, we had a technical problem with the electronics in Race 1 in the afternoon that prevented me from achieving more. Tomorrow is our last race day this season, we will do our best and I hope to defend the second starting position in Superpole Race."
