2025/03/28 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2025: Portuguese Round / Friday's Free Practice Sessions

Strong improvements in the afternoon

On the opening day of round two of the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship at Portimao's rollercoaster track, Dominique Aegerter was faster than during the test two weeks ago, but he was not satisfied with his position in Friday's combined timesheet.

Despite the glorious weather these days the south of Portugal offers, Dominique Aegerter didn't really have a smile on his face at the end of the first day at the challenging Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. The free practice sessions proved to be a tough test for the 34-year-old Swiss rider. Nevertheless, he was able to improve his lap time by almost 1.2 seconds in the afternoon. With a personal best marker of 1'41.428, the Yamaha rider finished in 15th place and is hoping for further improvements on Saturday morning before going into the decisive Superpole.

The first race of the weekend will be shown live on free-to-air television on «ServusTV» and Eurosport.

FP1: P16 - 1´42.600 / FP2: P15 - 1´41.428

«It is nice to be here in Portimao again, especially when the weather is so glorious, and it should stay like this all weekend either. We were faster today than during our test, even though we struggled a bit two weeks ago. But we have to keep working hard to improve, because the positions and lap times are not what I would like. But we will not give up, we will try even harder to find a few tenths for tomorrow. Yamaha has also brought some new stuff, which shows that there is no standstill, but that efforts are being made from all sides to improve. But my team is also trying everything possible, especially when it comes to analyzing the data. We will try to finish in the top ten in Superpole, which is also the goal for the first race tomorrow afternoon. That would be a step towards getting closer to where we should be.»
