A tyre gamble ahead of today’s Superpole Race in the morning in Assen had costly consequences for Dominique Aegerter.
A change weather-wise on Sunday morning resulted in a rain shower and therefore for a wet warm up session. When the ten-lap Superpole Race was scheduled, the track began to dry out again. Dominique Aegerter expected the track to dry faster although, the Yamaha rider was only able to benefit from his tyre choice in the last three laps, more than 17th place at the finish line, however, was not possible and so he had to start the second main race from P15 on the fifth row.
The conditions were clear again in the afternoon. The entire field went into the ninth race of the season with slick tyres and a dry set-up. This time, Aegerter did not find his rhythm quickly enough and was initially stuck in midfield but got stronger towards the end of the race, making up some positions. However, tenth place was not what he had hoped for.
The 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship enters its next round in three weeks' time at the Cremona circuit in northern Italy.

Grid position 11 / Superpole Race: P17 / Grid position 15 / Race 2: P10
«It was not the Sunday we had hoped for, but we are taking the positives with us - especially the top 10 result in the second race. Unfortunately, our tyre strategy did not work out in Superpole Race. While almost everyone else started on rain tyres, we opted for intermediates. But the track did not dry out quickly enough. I immediately dropped back to 18th place, and even the fastest race lap I set at the end did not help. So, I had to start from P15 on the grid in the afternoon, which made Race 2 much more difficult. I found a good pace, but it took me a while to get into a rhythm. At least I was able to keep the same pace as on Saturday until the end and make up a few positions. Of course, this is not what we expected, especially when you look at the results of the other Yamaha riders. Congratulations to Andrea Locatelli for his first win and of course to my team mate Remy Gardner for third place, which is a good result for the team. We will continue to work on this and aim for more next time in Cremona in three weeks' time.»
