On his return to Magny-Cours, Dominique Aegerters had to settle for 14th place in the combined timesheets for the first two free practice sessions, but points to have a better pace than the result suggests. 

Round nine of the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship calendar is the Magny-Cours circuit in France. The meeting in Burgundy marks the end of the summer break and heralds the start of the final third of the season.

Due to its proximity to his home in Switzerland, Magny-Cours is a very special place for Dominique Aegerter. On Friday, the crowd favourite was already being cheered on enthusiastically by numerous fans and sponsors who had travelled to Magny-Cours.

However, Aegerter was unable to fully meet his fans' expectations, finishing 17th this morning and 14th in the second session of the day. However, the Yamaha rider is confident that he can take another step forward on Saturday morning to secure a starting position in the first three rows of the grid in the important Superpole.

«It is nice to be back after the long summer break, and it is also great to be racing here at Magny-Cours again, because I had to miss this round last year due to my injury. In any case, it was a beautiful Friday with lots of sunshine and many fans from Switzerland who already came to support me. Overall, let's put it this way: we got off to a good start this morning, but our position did not reflect our good pace. Even after the second session, our position still is not that great, although the gap to the top ten is not too big. We are obviously doing everything we can to get closer to the front guys. But in the later stages of FP2, we had once a rider in front of us and a yellow flag, so we were not able to put in a perfect lap. But it was only the second free practice session, and I would say that we are well prepared for FP3 tomorrow morning, the last session before going into Superpole, in which we will try to secure a grid position in the first three rows at least. In order to move up a bit in the timesheets, I think we need to improve in braking, because our grip and turning are pretty good. We are working on this area by evaluating the data tonight and then trying to take a step forward. I also hope that the qualifying tyre will help us a bit to go faster and achieve a good starting position.»
