Although Dominique Aegerter took another step towards the leading group on Saturday, he was not satisfied with today’s results.

Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter had a brilliant morning on the first day of racing at round ten of the current FIM Superbike World Championship at Spain’s MotorLand Aragón circuit. In the third free practice session, he improved his lap time by almost a second compared to Friday afternoon, moving up to fifth place in the combined timesheets.

In Superpole, where the starting grid was determined, Aegerter failed to put in a perfect lap and, despite further improving his lap time, he had to settle for 14th place, which meant a starting position in the fifth row. After 18 gruelling laps in fine weather and warm temperatures, he finally crossed the finish line in eleventh place.

«We finished Race 1 in eleventh place, and I am not satisfied with. However, we had a difficult Superpole this morning, even though we were only 0.8 seconds behind the front row. That shows how close the competition is. Our problem was that we did not manage to put in a perfect lap. In the race, as has been the case several times this year, we struggled a bit to make up positions in the early laps. But as soon as other riders started to struggle with tyre drop or other problems, we were able to maintain our pace and start overtaking. In the end, we did not lose that much time to the winners, but eleventh place does not meet our expectations. Now we will analyze and try to improve for tomorrow, because the goal is clear: we want to finish Superpole Race in the top nine to have a better starting position in the afternoon. But first of all, a big thank you to the entire team, who are doing a great job. We will continue to give it our all.»
