Dominique Aegerter and his Kawasaki WorldSSP Team are hoping for good weather when the final test sessions take place on Monday and Tuesday at the picturesque Phillip Island circuit.

The weather has not exactly been kind to Dominique Aegerter so far this year, with both winter tests at the end of January in Jerez de la Frontera and Portimao almost completely washed out. The 35-year-old Swiss rider, who is returning to the FIM Supersport World Championship this season with the Kawasaki factory team led by Manuell Puccetti, has therefore not yet been able to develop full confidence and a good feel for his race bike, nor has he been able to get used to the highly competitive category again.

The first race weekend of the production-based series traditionally takes place at the end of February, when late summer arrives on the other side of the world. For WorldSSP teams and riders, this week’s two-day test is a welcome opportunity to make final adjustments to their bikes in hopefully consistent conditions ahead of the championship’s opening round. For Aegerter, it means to be a doubly important event to further familiarize himself with his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636.

«I am really looking forward to the test on Monday and Tuesday. The venue and the track itself are just incredibly beautiful, and it's always great to be here, even though the long journey to Australia is always a challenge. I particularly like the layout of the track, which is a bit “old school.” But in a way, it suits me and my riding style. I'm also looking forward to seeing Manuel Puccetti and the whole team again so we can continue our work in preparation for the season. This test will be very important because it rained almost the entire time in Jerez and Portimao. As a result, we're not quite where we need to be with the basic setup for my riding style. So I'm hoping for good weather so that we can do as many laps as possible on a dry track. That should also help me gain more confidence in the bike and get used to Supersport again. In general, I would say that we still have a lot of work to do before the first race weekend.»
