After a difficult start to the season, Dominique Aegerter hopes to take another step towards the front riders of the highly competitive Supersport World Championship this weekend at the historic circuit in the Netherlands.

The championship's anual visit to Assen, in the north of the Netherlands, has been a fixture on the calendar for production-based race bikes for many years. It is just as popular with teams and riders as it is with fans. The only downside is that it takes place early in the season.

Aegerter has been familiar with the legendary TT Circuit on the outskirts of Assen since the very beginning of his now long-standing career. In 2021 and 2022, he remained unbeaten at the ultra-fast and flowing track in Supersport class. The ambitious racer hopes to build on these successes with his Kawasaki WorldSSP Team, led by Italian Manuel Puccetti.

«Assen is a track I really like and where I have already achieved some very good results. There are some great successes I fondly look back on. The track's layout is mostly very fast and flowing, and I have known it for many years, ever since I began my international career in the 125cc class in International German Championship. For me, Assen is legendary, not at least because of the fantastic fans who come to watch the motorcycle races. April is a bit too early in the year for a race weekend there, though. But the weather is the same for everyone. The temperatures may be pretty cool, but as soon as the sun comes out, it is really nice to race in Assen.»

«During the break after Portimão, I competed in a motocross event back home in Switzerland and, of course, I did a lot of physical training sessions to be well prepared for the upcoming races. We also prepared a Ninja ZX-6R 636 as a practice bike, which I rode once at a race track. Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to organize a test with the team. That is a bit of a shame, because I do not think that we are quite at the level yet where we can fight for the positions we are aiming for. So we are going into the weekend with the goal of getting off to a good start on Friday and putting in a strong Superpole performance. As always, I will do my best to work well with the team, improve as much as possible we can, and close the gap to the front. I am looking forward to Assen and I am confident that we can achieve good results. I am highly motivated to make that happen.»
