As hoped, Dominique Aegerter managed to finish in the top ten in a thrilling race on Saturday afternoon.

The first day of racing at the World Championship's visit to the historic TT Circuit in Assen was full of drama. After a sunny morning, the sky darkened as the race began at 2:00 p.m. local time. Many people could be seen glancing anxiously at the sky. Fortunately, the weather held, apart from a few scattered raindrops.

Nevertheless, choosing the right tyres was no easy task given the significantly cooler conditions. However, Dominique Aegerter and his crew made the right call, and the 35-year-old Kawasaki rider was also able to capitalize on his good starting position on the fourth row. He even gained two positions on the opening lap, crossing the line in tenth place.

In the following laps, however, he temporarily dropped back to twelfth place, but showed fighting spirit and determination. The longer the race went on and the fiercer the battles for position became — not just at the front — the stronger the experienced racer from the canton of Bern grew. Aegerter successfully fought his way through the first chasing group. When he saw the chequered flag, he was less than a second behind the winner.

«I am pretty relieved because we finally made it into the top ten. That was a strong performance, and I am happy about it. Nevertheless, I want more! But leading up to that, it was not easy to choose the right tyres on the grid, which we fortunately managed to do. In the race, it was a tough battle with many other riders right from the start. A few raindrops fell from halfway point on, which made the situation quite difficult, because I think it would have become pretty tricky to touch the white line. Finally, we are satisfied with the result and can build on it. Plus, I will start from the second row tomorrow. That is great, of course. Hopefully we can carry this momentum forward and continue to close the gap on the riders at the front. We will definitely give it our all to achieve another strong team result tomorrow, that let us say, “We are there now.” A huge thank you to the team — they work incredibly hard and do a fantastic job. Thanks also to the fans who came to Assen for their great support. Hopefully the weather will stay on our side. I will do my best to achieve another strong result. But first, thanks again to everyone for their support. Tomorrow it is time to go full throttle again.»
