2026/05/15 - FIM Supersport World Championship 2026: Czech Round / Friday's Free Practice Session & Superpole

Hard work for improvements in the freezing cold Most

On Friday, Dominique Aegerter struggled the most with the weather conditions expected for this round of the World Championship in the Czech Republic and will have to start the first race from the seventh row again on Saturday.

The Opening day at the Autodrom Most brought back memories of last year when the weather was also far from ideal for motorcycle racing. Fortunately, the season’s round five got underway in dry conditions, but temperatures were still too Cold all day long.

The schedule for Supersport class started differently than usual, with free practice as the first session of the day, a good two hours earlier than to it's usual plan. With air temperatures at only twelve degrees, it was difficult for Dominique Aegerter to adapt to the situation. P24 and a 1.8-second gap to the fastest time meant a lot of work during the break before the crucial Superpole.

As with previous race weekends this season, the 35-year-old from Bern and his technical crew worked tirelessly to find a better base for the time attack in Superpole. They were partially successful, as the Kawasaki rider managed to close the gap by 0.7 seconds compared to free practice.

Superpole: P20 - 1´34.913 +1.111 | Vorläufiger Startplatz: 20

«Our start to the weekend wasn't that easy, as I was lacking a better feeling with the bike this morning. But we did a great job as a team again. The entire Kawasaki Supersport team helped me a lot, so we were significantly faster in Superpole. We were able to close the gap to the front, although we're still a bit too far off. P20 on the grid is certainly not what we want, nor is it what we expect of ourselves. I definitely want to improve, and I always give 100 per cent for that. I try to be perfectly prepared both physically and mentally for every session. Nevertheless, I will work even harder and definitely won't give up. During tomorrow morning's warm-up, we'll try out a few minor things that should help improve my Feeling with the bike. In the race, it's then a matter of all in and possibly looking after the tyres a bit, as that could be an issue for some riders. But we'll leave no stone unturned to get the green machine back to the front. A big thanks to everyone for their support.»
