However, on day of practice for round round of this year's World Championship at the Spanish circuit MotorLand Aragón, Dominique Aegerter had to contend with more than just the unexpectedly midsummer conditions.
 
From the 'Ice Saints' of the Czech Republic to the heat of Spain. There is no other way to describe the huge contrasts between the last round two weeks ago in Most and this week in the outbacks of the Spanish eastern coastline.

Dominique Aegerter and his Kawasaki WorldSSP Team had been working hard in the workshop during the short break, so that the 35-year-old Swiss rider could get a feel for his race bike more quickly at the beginning of a race weekend. With the unexpectedly hot temperatures at MotorLand Aragón, this task was not exactly easy.

Aegerter finished the morning's free practice session in P24. In the Superpole, when the day's highest temperatures were recorded, the Kawasaki rider was able to improve his position slightly, but his lap time in the time attack was only marginally faster than in the previous session. 21st place, 1.4 seconds off pole position, means a start from the seventh row on Saturday.

«The conditions couldn’t have been tougher today, with the extreme heat and temperatures of around 35°C. Despite this, we worked hard to improve on our results, even if the feeling with the bike isn’t yet what I’d like it to be. We were able to take a step in the afternoon, but our rivals did the same, and so we’ll be starting Race 1 fairly far back. I hope we can find something more in tomorrow’s warm-up. We’re all working hard to find small improvements and I’m confident we can achieve better results as soon as I am able to find better feeling with my bike. Tomorrow we’ll do our best to score points and then build on that base. Thanks to the team for all their help.»
