Dominique Aegerter had to push himself to the limit throughout the second race in Donington to head into the summer break with two more points to his name after a gruelling 19 laps.

The season’s round eight at the historic Donington Park circuit in England came to a close on Sunday amid glorious summer weather. The only difference from the previous days was slightly stronger winds, which altered the conditions a bit.

Dominique Aegerter started the 16th race of the season from P14 on the grid and got passed by three competitors on the first lap. In 17th place, it took six laps for the Kawasaki rider to move up one position. According to the lap-by-lap table, Aegerter was listed in 16th place until two laps before the end, after which he was able to pass only two more riders before crossing the finish line. However, a 14th-place finish fell short of the 35-year-old’s expectations.

The championship is now taking a summer break and will not resume until the World Championship round in Magny-Cours, France, on the first weekend of September.

«The weekend in Donington is done and dusted. I really enjoyed riding at this beautiful track again, even though it was very hot on the first day and we didn’t make the progress we’d hoped for. The second race once again didn’t go as we’d hoped. Finishing 14th is, of course, a disappointment. I’d really been hoping for a better result. We were able to improve the bike a little but, still, I was at the limit the whole time. Plus, the conditions were completely different from yesterday because of the strong wind. When I crossed the finish line, we were ten seconds behind the winner’s time. That isn’t necessarily a lot, but the field in Supersport class is very strong and evenly matched. We need to shave off a few tenths of a second per lap to break into the top ten. Now we have a long break, during which I’ll definitely be riding my Kawasaki training bike a lot. I also have a guest start scheduled in a race in the Swiss Motocross Championship series. But a summer break also includes a few relaxed and quiet days, since the last few weeks have been very exhausting, not just physically, but mentally as well. I’d like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to my team, because they always give it their all.
