After the publication of the revised race calendar, Dominique Aegerter is eagerly awaiting the start of the season finally.
For Dominique Aegerter, who will be competing in the recently created MotoE™ World Cup this year, it was the most pleasant news for a long time. The 29-year-old professional motorcycle racer from the canton of Bern has therefore marked the date of July 19. On this Sunday, Aegerter will celebrate his premiere in the electric bike racing series in Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain. A total of seven races will be held this year in the MotoE™ World Cup. Three events within the framework of the MotoGP™ World Championship have been selected for this. In addition to Jerez, with a double race for round two only one week later on 26 July, the venues will be Misano and Le Mans are the other venues.
In addition, Aegerter also hopes to be able to take up his job as a test rider of the Honda Superbike project in full soon. At the moment, however, there are still question marks over a scheduled date next month due to the strict travel regulations.
#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica):
"I am very happy about this good news. It took forever to finally get our season opener confirmed. But I am looking forward to the first races next month with great confidence. During the unintended break I did a lot of sports and prepared myself well so, I feel physically in top shape. After less restrictions came into force, it was also possible to start riding bikes again. I was on the road a lot with my Supermoto and Motocross machine. That was very important in order not to lose the feeling completely. Nevertheless, there are still kilometres missing at the road track."
"But I still have to be a little patient until meeting my team next time though, I am really looking forward to it and at the same time I can't wait to go out with the MotoE bike again. So far, I have only been riding it for three days in Jerez. I need more experience with the Energica before we go into the first race weekend. On the other hand, I can trust in my crew, who already have one year of experience with this technology. So, I am very positive that we will do a good job right from the start. The goal is clearly set, we want to be right at the front."
"However, as a rookie in this category I still have to get used to and understand a lot of things. The qualifying mode with only one E-Pole lap and the short race distance will be the main tasks. In addition, I hope that the travel restrictions will be further relaxed in the near future because a superbike test is planned for the beginning of July. I don't want to miss this opportunity because, as I said, I need every kilometre on a road racing bike to warm up my muscles before the next MotoE test."
