2023/05/23 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2023: Arm pump operation in San Marino

Dominique Aegerter undergoes surgerey on right forearm

Due to persistent arm pump problems, the 32-year-old Bern WorlSBK rider had no other choice than to undergo surgery.

Lately, after his move to the Superbike World Championship, Dominique Aegerter has had recurring problems with his right forearm, caused by the more powerful Yamaha R1 superbike. Through the mediation of the leading physician of the Clinica Mobile, Dr. Michele Zasa, the intervention took place at the Nova Clinica in San Marino.

"The surgery took place the Saturday before last, May 13. Everything went without complications and the recovery is progressing well, Dr. Bitonti and his team did a great job. I am already able to work out in the gym again. Dr. Zasa put me in contact with Dr. Bitonti. Previously, I had talked to several doctors and therapists about the need for surgery to possibly find a solution with a different workout. We also worked on the leather suit and the riding position, but that was not successful. Finally, I decided to have the surgery with Dr. Bitonti because he has a lot of experience in this field. I should be back in top shape by the Misano weekend in a week and a half. But before that, a big thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at the Nova Clinica, especially Dr. Bitonti, for the first-class treatment. I was in the best hands there, because everyone took very good care of me."
