2024/08/01 - National Day & CIV Misano

Dominique Aegerter wishes a happy National Day

However, the 33-year-old Swiss WorldSBK star is spending these days in Italy, where he is taking part in the Italian championship as a Wildcard entry at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Dominique Aegerter has got an invitation from Yamaha Italy for this event which he gladly accepted. His race bike this time is a Yamaha R1, which is built according to the regulations of the Italian Superbike Championship (stock sport). The weekend's schedule includes some treats such as the first qualifying session on Friday and Race 1 on Saturday. Both sessions will be held later in the evening under floodlights.

It is Aegerter's first appearance in this series where he will be line-up against strong competition from Italy. He knows some of them from occasional starts in world championship. On-track action can be followed via the series’ Live Stream.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team, Yamaha YZF R1)

«First of all, I would like to wish my fellow Swiss citizens a happy National Day. I think it is a bit of a shame that I cannot be at home on this special day, as I have commitments with my team in Italy this weekend. I will be competing in CIV round in Misano with a Yamaha Superbike and I am excited because the schedule promises something special with the race on Saturday evening under floodlights. Apart from that, it will definitely be good practice before we head to Portimao next week for the next round in the Superbike World Championship. The invitation for Misano came from Yamaha Italy, which I gladly accepted. As I said, it is a welcome practice session in race mode, even though it is very hot here. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to it and also to the track, which I always have liked a lot. It is also a good opportunity for me to make up for what I missed at the WorldSBK weekend last June, where I did not score any points. But it will not be an easy task, because there are strong riders competing in Italian Superbike Championship. Nevertheless, I want to enjoy it and will do my best to do as well as possible.»
