2025/03/16 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2025: Portimao test 14/15 March

Portimao test as a good preparation for the next races

For Dominique Aegerter, a two-day test at the Portimao circuit was a good opportunity to prepare for the next race weekend at the same venue.

After the FIM Superbike World Championship 2025 kicked off in Australia at the end of February, all the equipment, riders and teams have now returned to Europe. The almost four-week break until the second stop of the championship on the rollercoaster track of Portimao in the south of Portugal was shortened with a test on Friday and Saturday this week.

Dominique Aegerter and his Italy-based GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team took the opportunity to prepare primarily for the upcoming tasks in two weeks at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve rollercoaster close to the port city of Portimao, but also to test new development parts from Yamaha.

In predominantly good conditions, the 34-year-old Aegerter completed over 90 laps on both days and set a personal best time of 1'42.036. Although the experienced racer from the canton of Bern was not in the top group, he was nevertheless satisfied with what he had achieved and the information he had gathered over the two days.

«It's always nice to get back aboard the race bike and continue testing after a long break. Especially at a track where we will soon have a race weekend. We tried out some new things and collected valuable data for the next event in the championship. Unfortunately, we lost some track time due to the rain, but we still managed to put in some good laps and complete a decent workload in the dry. Now we need to focus on what we've learned over these two days and work on improving as much as possible for the race weekend. I am confident that we can take a step in the right direction.»
